Spruce-Hardwood forests in the north-western European Russia

Spruce-Hardwood forests in the north-western European Russia

Botanicheskii Zhurnal (Stsburg). 2004; 89(8): 1249-1263

Spruce-hardwood forests were divided into six plant associations on the basis of presence of nemoral woody species in the tree layer or in the understory. The associations are Corylo-Piceetum, Tilio-Piceetum, Querco-Piceetum, Acero-Piceetum, Ulmo-Piceetum and Fraxino-Piceetum. Only first two associations occur frequently in the north-western European Russia. Both were divided into two subassociations, the latter differing in abundance of nemoral or boreal species in the herb layer.
