The use of CD38 expression by monoclonal B lymphocytes as a prognostic factor in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia

The use of CD38 expression by monoclonal B lymphocytes as a prognostic factor in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Journal of Biological Regulators and Homeostatic Agents 18(3-4): 340-346

In B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) the Rai and Binet staging criteria are not always able to accurately predict the prognosis of each patient. Rapidly evolving, violent disease is often seen in the so-called "good-prognosis" group, which highlights the need of additional and more refined prognostic markers. Several of these markers are described in the literature, with varying abilities to predict patient survival.
