The direct and residual effects of fertilizers on the performance of urd bean (cv. PU 35)-wheat (cv. HD 2687) cropping sequence were studied in Pantnagar, Uttaranchal, India, during the kharif and rabi seasons of 2002-04. The treatments consisted of farmyard manure (FYM; 0 or 5 t/ha) and P (0, 20 or 40 kg P2O5/ha) applied to urd bean, and 50, 75 or 100% of the recommended fertilizer rates (RFR; 150 kg N + 60 kg P205 + 60 kg K2O/ha) applied to wheat.
