The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of roughage to concentrate ratio (20:80 or 30:70) and sodium bicarbonate supplementation (0 or 1% DM) in total mixed ration using coarse ground rice straw as the main fibre source as diets for ruminally fistulated and lactating dairy cows. The experiment was split into two parts. In the first part, four ruminally fistulated Holstein-Friesian non-lactating dairy cows were assigned in a 4x4 Latin square study.
