Epizootological research in canine demodicosis

Epizootological research in canine demodicosis

Revista Scientia Parasitologica 3(1): 111-117

The research carried out between January 1997 and 1999 in 1800 dogs aimed to establish the prevalence of canine demodicosis. From 338 dermatopathies, 80 (23.67%) were diagnosed as canine demodicosis. The incidence is primarily correlated to breed distribution among the studied dog population and less to hairlength of dogs. The most affected breeds were: Crossbreed (16 cases), Rottweiler (14 cases), Pekingese (9 cases), German Shepherd (9 cases). Sex does not seem to be a receptivity factor.
