Essential oil content and composition of German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) at different irrigation regimes

Journal of Agronomy 5(3): 451-455

The essential oil content and chemical composition of German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla Bodegold) were determined at different irrigation regimes (irrigation at 100, 85, 70 and 55% of field capacity). Essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation of dried flower and was analysed by GC-MS. The results indicated that the yield of dry flower and essential oil per pot, essential oil percentage and its composition vary with irrigation regimes.
