Estimates of genetic parameters for growth traits in Baluchi sheep using random regression models

Weight records of Baluchi sheep, from birth to 180 days of age, were analysed using random regression models. The models included the fixed effects of year, sex, type of birth, age of dam and season of birth. Fixed and random regressions (animal and maternal additive genetic, animal and maternal permanent environment) were modelled with orthogonal Legendre polynomials of age at recording. Changes in measurement error variances with age were modelled through a variance function.
