Estimating species-specific wood density from the genus average in Indonesian trees

This study examines whether the estimation of wood density of tree species based on the average wood density of the genera they belong holds true for the Palaeotropical forests of Southeast Asia. A total of 165 genera (from Borneo, Indonesia) which had three or more species with a known wood density were used for this purpose, wherein one species was randomly excluded in each genus.
