Estimation of genetic parameters for milk production traits using test day records of Holstein dairy cattle of Iran

Genetic parameters of milk yield, fat percent and fat yield of test day (TD) and 305-day record were estimated in Holstein cows kept in Isfahan province of Iran during 1990 to 2002 using restricted maximum likelihood (REML) applied to a multiple trait animal model. Heritability estimates in TD records ranged from 0.093 to 0.273 for all traits and increased towards midlactation and decreased toward the end of lactation.
