Estimation of heterosis and combining ability for yield components and earliness in seven tomato lines (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) using diallel crossing method

A study was conducted to estimate the heterosis, combining ability and components of genetic variance for yield components and earliness in seven tomato lines. The 21 F1 hybrids derived from direct diallel crosses of seven selected tomato lines and their parents were grown in a glasshouse. The measured traits consisted of plant height, days to flowering, days from flowering to ripening, days to ripening, fruit weight, fruit number, leaf numbers to first inflorescence and yield per plant.
