Heterosis and combining ability for yield and yield components were studied during 1995/96 and 1996/97 in 9 parental cultivars (Triple White, Giza 716, Giza 461, Cairo 375, Giza 402, ILB938, Giza 717, Giza Blanka and El-Sabaawy) and 36 crosses grown in Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt, under 2 low (35 000 plants/feddan) and high (70 000 plants/feddan) planting densities.
