Estimation of oat grain quality on the basis of chemical composition

The quality of grains from 3 dwarf strains of naked oat (STH 15944, STH 7091, STH 16316), 2 naked oat cultivars (Akt, Polar) and one husked oat cultivar (Chwat) was evaluated in Lipnik, Poland, during 2003. The naked oats had higher crude protein (20%) and crude fat (66%) contents than the husked cultivar. The lower content of crude fibre and structural fibre fractions in naked oat grains make naked oat a valuable fodder for monogastric animals.
