Estimation of surface runoff, using SCS model from micro watershed in semi arid region

The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) model was used to estimate surface runoff in a semiarid catchment located in the Mahi river basin, Panchmahals District of Gujarat, India. The thematic maps of land use/cover, drainage and hydrological soil groups were prepared by actual ground truth to derive the modified runoff curve number. Results showed that the average yearly runoff was 15.26 cm, which was approximately 29% of the average rainfall.
