Evaluating animal genotypes through model inversion

Evaluating animal genotypes through model inversion

Mechanistic modelling in pig and poultry production: 163-187

This chapter deals with the use of model inversion in the evaluation of animal genotypes. Methods for estimating genotypic specifications are described. Algebraic model inversion and mathematical theory for algebraic model inversion are discussed. Three case studies (algebraic inversion of a pig growth model, estimating the genotypic parameters of the de Lange model by inversion through optimization and a more complex problem for model inversion by optimization) are presented.
