Evaluating flow dissipations on a block ramp

Evaluating flow dissipations on a block ramp

Rivista di Ingegneria Agraria 37(2): 45-56

This paper presents the results of a laboratory investigation on the hydraulic dissipations of 40 different block ramps. The ramps were characterized by different slope, width and bed roughness. The influence of the width/depth ratio, the ramp slope, and the bed roughness normalized by ramp height are examined. The analysis showed that flow dissipation depends on roughness height. A new expression for estimating the hydraulic dissipation by block ramps is introduced.
