Evaluating gene effects of a major barley seed dormancy QTL in reciprocal backcross populations

A previous study of the Steptoe x Morex doubled haploid lines (SM DHLs) described four dormancy quantitative trait loci (QTLs) that display complex epistatic and environmental interactions. The PSR128 marker locus on chromosome 7 accounted for a large portion of the phenotypic variation and had strong effects on percent germination, especially when the Steptoe allele inhabited the second largest dormancy QTL near the ABG390 marker.
