Evaluation of Acorus calamus germplasm for isolation and characterization of beta -asarone deficient cultivars

Evaluation of Acorus calamus germplasm for isolation and characterization of beta -asarone deficient cultivars

Journal of Tropical Medicinal Plants 6(2): 209-213

A survey was conducted and germplasm was collected during 2001 from different locations of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttaranchal, India, to evaluate various accessions of Acorus calamus and to select beta -asarone deficient cultivars. The mean values for annual growth measured as herbage and rhizome yields on fresh weight basis ranged between 0.073 and 0.238, and 0.149 and 0.432, respectively.
