Identification of turkey astrovirus and turkey coronavirus in an outbreak of poult enteritis and mortality syndrome

Identification of turkey astrovirus and turkey coronavirus in an outbreak of poult enteritis and mortality syndrome

Brazilian Journal of Poultry Science 8(2): 131-135

This study was conducted to determine the agents involved in poult enteritis and mortality syndrome. A survey on turkey astrovirus (TAstV) and turkey coronavirus (TCoV) infections using RT-PCR in 17 turkey flocks affected by acute enteritis and two apparently normal turkey flocks located in the Southeastern region of Brazil using PCR (TAstV and TCoV) was performed. It was observed that 7 out of the 17 affected flocks were positive for TAstV and 14 for TCoV, with 7 co-infections.
