Incidence of subclinical mastitis in Karan Swiss and Karan Fries crossbred cows

Animal-wise and quarter-wise milk samples of 272 crossbred cows (66 Karan Swiss and 206 Karan Fries) belonging to the Institute herd of NDRI, Karnal, India, were tested for subclinical mastitis (SCM) infection using modified California mastitis test, somatic cell count and pH test. The results indicated an overall incidence rate of 52.57% in the herd. The overall SCM incidences in Karan Swiss and Karan Fries breed groups were 53.03 and 52.43%, respectively.
