Nutrient uptake and quality of wheat as affected by organic manures and inorganic fertilizers

A study was conducted during the rabi seasons of 1997-98 and 1998-99 in Haryana, India, to evaluate the effects of various sources of nutrients on nutrient uptake, yield and protein content in wheat. Treatments comprised: five organic sources (no organic manure, vermicompost (wheat straw) at 60 kg N/ha, vermicompost (dung) at 60 kg N/ha, FYM at 60 t/ha and FYM at 15 t/ha) and five fertilizer rates (no chemical fertilizer, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of the recommended dose (120:60:25 kg NPK/ha)).
