Residual effect of 2,4-D on in vitro regeneration in four genotypes of sudan grass (Sorghum sudanense Piper)

This study was conducted to determine the response of 4 genotypes of Sudan grass (Sorghum sudanense) to different levels of 2,4-D (1, 3 and 5 mg/litre) and kinetin (0 and 0.5 mg/litre) during in vitro regeneration. Higher 2,4-D concentrations in the callus induction media were found to be inhibitory for shoot induction frequency and shoot:callus ratio. The best 2,4-D concentration for both of these traits was found to be 1 mg 2,4-D/litre.
