Response of maize to fertilization with KCl on gleysol of Sava valley area

Five maize (Zea mays) hybrids (OsSK444, OsSK458, OsSK552, Bc5982 and Florencia) were supplied with 150, 650 and 1400 kg KCl/ha in a field experiment conducted in Croatia during 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. KCl was applied in four replicates at the beginning of April 2001. The highest rate of KCl resulted in significant increases in yield (14, 24 and 12% for 2001, 2002 and 2003, respectively), whereas the yields of the crop supplied with KCl in the fourth year were similar to that of the control.
