Response of rice to poultry manure and graded levels of NPK under irrigated conditions

A field experiment was conducted on black clay soils in Gangavati, Karnataka, India, during the rainy seasons of 1999 and 2000 to evaluate the performance of poultry manure as a substitute for NPK in irrigated rice (cv. IR 64). The Application of poultry manure at 5 t ha-1 recorded a significantly higher grain yield (5.25 t ha-1) than the control (without manure) and FYM application at 7.5 t ha-1, significantly improved the soil P and K status, and increased the N content of the soil.
