Response of sorghum bicolour (L.) Moench varieties to nitrogen fertilization under Sana'a conditions in the Republic of Yemen

Sorghum cultivars Tajarib, Morsalah Haja and Bouni-Red were supplied with 50, 100 and 150 kg N/ha in a field experiment conducted in Yemen during 2002-03. Tajarib recorded the highest number of grains per head, 1000-kernel weight, plant height and crop yield, whereas Morsalah Haja recorded the highest leaf area. Plant height, number of grains per head, 1000-kernel weight and crop yield were highest with the application of 150 kg N/ha.
