Response of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merri) to VAM with and without phosphorus

The effects of VAM (vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza) (0, 125 or 250 g/ha), singly or in combination with P (0 or 60 kg P2O5/ha), on the performance of soyabean (cv. JS 335) were studied in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, during the rainy seasons of 1997 and 1998. Dry matter accumulation and crop growth rate increased until maturity, whereas LAI increased up to 60 days after sowing (DAS). NAR declined gradually until 90 DAS due to reduced photosynthesis under all treatments.
