Restoration ecology of river valleys

Restoration ecology of river valleys

Basic and Applied Ecology 7(5): 383-387

This paper provides an overview of the changes in the river valleys of Central Europe due to human alterations and the important restoration aspects that will address the ecological and economic problems associated with these changes. It is emphasized that all successful restoration measures have to be based on sound ecological pinciples and an understanding of hydrologic processes.
