Retardation of senescence in detached leaves of Syringa oblata by nickel treatment

Retardation of senescence in detached leaves of Syringa oblata by nickel treatment

Journal of Northeast Forestry University 33(6): 10-13

The effects of nickel (10, 30, 50, 70 micro mol litre-1) on the senescence of detached Syringa oblata leaves were studied. Results showed that during senescence, the protein, chlorophyll, AsA and GSH contents as well as the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) significantly decreased. However, the activities of peroxidase (POD), generative rate of superoxide radical (O2-), malondialdehyde (MDA) content and electrical conductivity of the leaves significantly increased.
