Abnormal growth of shoots on scions of arabica coffee grafted on to robusta root stock

A total of 98 scions comprising 17 arabica coffee differentials were grafted onto 7-year-old C x R robusta rootstock during August 2002 in Thandigudi, Dindigul district, Karnataka, India, and the union was successful. Production of normal suckers was observed among differentials grafted onto C x R rootstock. However, abnormal production of more orthotropic shoots was observed in some grafts.
