Sources of resistance to D. oryzae ((Cochliobolus miyabeanus)) causing brown leaf spot disease and severely affecting both quality and yield of the cultivated rice O. sativa are rare. Four lines (CR 100117, CR 100140, CR 100142 and CR 100142) of the wild rice O. nivara that are resistant to brown leaf spot in Ludhiana, Punjab, India were genetically characterized under artificial epiphytotic conditions in the field.
