Response of seed germination of Rhododendron fortunei to drought stress

The seed germination, seedling growth and water absorption characteristics of R. fortunei were investigated under different osmotic potential (PEG-6000, -0.3 to -2.4 MPa) solutions. The seeds in distilled water began to germinate from the 14th day and lasted for 8 days, with a total germination rate of 45.5%+or-1.7%. The water absorption rate of seeds under -0.3 to -0.6 MPa solution was higher than that in distilled water after the 5th day.
