Response of the two common mungbean varieties to some weed control treatments

Mung bean cultivars Kawmy1 and Giza1 were subjected to 4 herbicide (prometryn, pendimethalin, metolachlor and oxadiazon) treatment and hand hoeing twice in a field experiment conducted in Egypt during the summer of 1997-98 to determine the efficacy of the treatments in controlling weeds infesting mung beans and its effects on crop yield. Prometryn provided the highest control of the weeds (90.7%) followed by hand hoeing (89.5%).
