Screening of chickpea germplasm for resistance to Ascochyta blight

A total of 423 chickpea germplasm, including promising cultivars from Syria were screened for ascochyta blight in an experiment conducted in 2002-04. Observations on disease incidence were recorded using the international 1-9 scale. Based on the disease score, the cultivars/lines were grouped as highly resistant (disease score 1), resistant (disease score 3), moderately resistant (disease score 5), susceptible (disease score 7) and highly susceptible (disease score 9).
