Field evaluation of Pasteuria penetrans as nursery bed application against Meloidogyne javanica infecting brinjal

The efficacy of the bacterial parasite, P. penetrans in controlling M. javanica infesting aubergine was tested in one microplot and 2 field tests conducted in Hisar, Haryana, India during 2004-2005. Application of P. penetrans at 1x104 spores/g nursery soil was as effective as the application of carbofuran at 2 kg a.i./ha. At 1x105 spores, the yields were comparable to healthy nursery plants.
