Virulence factors of Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis strains isolated from humans and pets

Virulence factors of Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis strains isolated from humans and pets

Turkish Journal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences 30(5): 477-482

The virulence factors of 146 E. faecium and 32 E. faecalis strains isolated from faecal samples of humans, dogs and cats in Turkey in 2003-2004 were investigated. In total, 178 strains were examined by gelatinase (GelE), aggregation substance (AS), cytolysin and slide haemagglutination tests.
