Lead nitrate induced acidic amino acid alterations in liver of albino rats chromatographic studies

Toxic effect of acute dose of Lead nitrate has been studied in liver. the metabolically active organ of Rattus norvegicus. Emphasis has been paid onto acidic amino acids. Aspartic and Glutamic acids which were analysed by chromatogtaphy. The liver homogenates from 60% of treated group rats could not reveal the presence of Glutamic acid while Aspartic acid was not observed only in 33% cases. Both the amino acids were present in control rats. The alterations in the acidic amino acids are thought to be responsible for metabolic malfunctioning of liver as well as for altered structure and function of hepatocyte DNA.
