Effect of chemical and hand thinning on fruit retention, maturity and quality of plum cv. Santa Rosa

A study was conducted in Shalimar, Jammu and Kashmir, India during 2004 to evaluate the effect of chemical (ethephon at 50, 100 and 150 ppm) and hand thinning (10, 20 and 30%) on fruit retention, maturity and quality of plum Santa Rosa. The parameters tested were: fruit retention at harvest, fruit maturity, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight, pulp percentage, stone weight, pulp:stone ratio, total soluble solids content (brix), acidity percentage and TSS:acid ratio.
