Chromatographic separations in biotechnology

This review describes the role of chromatography in the development of recombinant protein pharmaceuticals. The versatility and efficacy of chromatographic techniques have made them the sine qua non in both large scale and analytical separations in biotechnology. The principal qualities of chromatographic approaches that underlie this prominent role and the main techniques employed at both production and analytical scales are discussed.
