Genetic analysis of plant height in tetraploid wheats. Inheritance of dwarfness during hybridization of tetraploid wheats with the quilafen cultivar

We studied inheritance of plant height during hybridization of tetraploid wheats with the dwarf durum wheat cultivar Quilafen, which is carrier of the recessive allele of gene Rht1 from Norin 10. It is demonstrated that the nature of plant height dominance varies in relation to the crossing combination. Genetic control of plant height differences between the Quilafen cultivar and the Jafari cultivar is determined by at least two genes. Dwarfness of Triticum dicoccum L. is dictated by alleles of two recessive genes. The presence of dwarfness genes nonallelic to gene Rht1 is clarified in T. dicoccum and Jafari.
