Shoot tip culture of Amelanchier laevis

Shoot tip culture of Amelanchier laevis

Research circular Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center: (263) 17-19

Shoot tip cultures of Amelanchier laevis proliferate rapidly in vitro on a Murashige-Skoog medium containing 0.1 mg/1 NAA and 2.5 mg/1BA. An average 40-fold multiplication after 4 months was achieved. The shoots could be removed as cuttings and placed on a one-fourth strength Murashige-Skoog medium containing 0.1 mg/1 IBA where rooting could be observed in a little as eight days. This system responds to the in vitro environment in a fashion similar to other trees of the Rosaceae which have been reported in the literature.
