Efficacy of various plant products and insecticide against fecundity of pulse beetle, Callosobruchus chinensis L. on bengal gram

A laboratory study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of malathion and various indigenous plant products mixed in water, ethanol, methanol and acetone in reducing the fecundity of the pulse beetle, Callosobruchus chinensis, in stored seeds of bengal gram, Cicer arietinum. Malathion 50EC at 1 ml/litre of water only as surface treatment was found to be the most effective, because no fecundity of the beetle was recorded in this treatment.
