Inheritance studies in the intergeneric hybrid of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.)

Inheritance studies in the intergeneric hybrid of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.)

Journal of Soils and Crops 16(2): 278-282

Inheritance studies on five morphological marker and eight quantitative traits were carried out in the intergeneric cross of Cajanus cajan DA 11 and the wild relative Atylosia cajanifolia involving parents, F1, F2 and BC1 generations. The growth habit and seed coat colour were governed by two genes with duplicate type of gene action, whereas the stem colour was controlled by supplementary gene action. The flower and pod colour were under the control of inhibitory gene action.
