Weed survey of transplanted rice and rice fallow black gram field was conducted during rabi 1998 and summer 1999 in Tamil Nadu, India. A total of 13 and 9 weed species infested the rice and black gram crop, respectively. Based on the importance value index (IVI), the most dominant weed in rice and black gram crop was Cyperus rotundus (45.2 and 79.3, respectively).
