Appeal for the cultivation of the Rumelian Strobus, Pinus pence, instead of the north-east American Weymouth Pine, Pinus strobus, and the west American Strobus, Pinus monticola

Zeitschr. fur Pflanzenkrankh. u. Pflanzen-fchutz 37(1-2): 6-8

The writer briefly outlines the white pine blister rust situation in Europe and America, and renews his appeal for the cultivation of the resistant Pinus peuce in place of the susceptible P. strobus and P. monticola. The importation into Germany of American five-needled pines should be prohibited. The cultivation ot' the Dutch red currant, which appears to be highly resistant to blister rust, should be encouraged.
