The results of the author's investigations, begun in April, 1925, on the aetiology and transmission of bunchy top of abaca (Musa textilis) in the Philippine Islands are fully described. The disease occurs in a most destructive form in the Laguna and Cavite Provinces, where the cultivation of the crop has been largely abandoned in consequence of its ravages. Bunchy top first attracted attention at Silang, Cavite, in 1915, but did not assume its present virulent character until 1923.
