A description is given of the extraction of an apparently chemically pure, non-living, crystalline protein from Turkish tobacco plants infected with tobacco-mosaic virus; the crystalline material in infection is between 100 and 1000 times more active than ordinary juice preparations from diseased Turkish tobacco plants.
