Comparison of results of vitamin A estimations on the blood and of tests with Chevallier's photometer on subjects having the same diet. Difficulty of interpretation in certain cases

Comparison of results of vitamin A estimations on the blood and of tests with Chevallier's photometer on subjects having the same diet. Difficulty of interpretation in certain cases

C. R. Soc. Biol 135: 1286-1289

Between November 1940 and July 1941, 836 estimations of capacity for dark adaptation were made with the photometer of Chevallier on children in an institution. Simultaneously with 75 of these tests, blood tests also were made for vitamin A and carotene. The results of the two sets of tests were broadly in harmony but certain individuals yielded results which varied very widely within a short time and which, for the two tests, were widely discrepant.
