Compensatory hypertrophy of the thyroid gland in guinea-pigs. Effect of potassium iodide and of anterior lobe pituitary extract

Results from two series of experiments confirmed the earlier work of Loeb and Gray that KI, orally administered, increases the degree of compensatory hypertrophy which normally follows extirpation of the greater part of the thyroid gland. Daily doses of 0.01, 0.005 and 0.002 g. KI were used, the highest being the most effective.
