Contribution to the knowledge of the species of the genus Poa in the Uruguayan flora

Contribution to the knowledge of the species of the genus Poa in the Uruguayan flora

Rev. Arg. Agron 3: 133-52

The author has made a study of the Poa series of Arechavaleta's herbarium, collected in Uruguay from 1870 to 1910. The cultivation of ten species has demonstrated the value of the rhizome for the purposes of systematic classification. The character is dominant, and plants with rhizomes exhibit a certain incompatibility in hybridization with caespitose species. Length of ligule is a character which is variable in some species.
