Study of the destruction of vitamin C in milk by ultraviolet irradiation indicated smaller losses than those reported by Schroeder (Abst. 4889, Vol. 7). It is suggested that the losses previously observed were due to exposure of the milk in an open vessel allowing oxidation of the vitamin C. Observations continued over many years with thousands of children have shown no ill effects of milk which has been irradiated to increase its antirachitic properties. A. M.
