Double sugar tolerance test in pregnancy and the puerperium as a test of islet activity

Double sugar tolerance test in pregnancy and the puerperium as a test of islet activity

Arch. Gynakol, 159: 705-717

The effect of repeated administration of glucose on the blood sugar (Staub-Traugott phenomenon) was determined on 59 women at various stages of pregnancy. In the first five months the results were varied, but in the second half of pregnancy the normal tendency for the blood sugar to fall after the second ingestion of glucose was not apparent. Post partum, normal results were obtained.
